Wank Adams Slavin Associates, 1961–1986

Upon Roland Wank’s (1898-1970) return to Fellheimer & Wagner in 1945, he became a partner and continued to design in the Modernist style, as exemplified by noteworthy structures like the International Paper Company (Sterling Forrest, NY) and the NJ Turnpike. In 1961, the firm’s name was changed to Wank Adams Slavin Associates to reflect the new partnership. Frederick W. Adams (d. 1973) was a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering program and practiced design in the Navy before becoming an architect. William Slavin was a plumbing engineer and administrative partner at the firm. Adams and Slavin were responsible for several laboratories, including the Lipton Plant and Distributing Facility (Flemington, NJ), the IBM plant (Kingston, NY) and the Baker Chemistry Lab and New Chemistry Wing at Cornell University (Ithaca, NY).
