Integrated Design
Concentrating in five major disciplines - including architecture, engineering, preservation, interiors and planning - WASA/Studio A is poised to provide truly integrated design services to its clients. All aspects of each project's planning and development phases are coordinated concurrently, using Building Information Modeling (BIM) technology, by a single in-house team. This borderless type of collaboration, which integrates principals, associates and the rest of the staff, creates a context wherein diverse ideas and approaches lead to better designs and a greater range of possibilities for the clients.

The WASA/Studio A Architecture Group is an intense and highly-focused group of architects and designers whose purpose it is to create distinctive environments for a wide range of institutional and private clients. The group is structured to provide the highest level of day-to-day partner attention and leadership deemed essential for quality design, innovative technical solutions by means of BIM technology and pro-active client service. The Group works in a highly collaborative manner to leverage the best ideas and solutions for our clients.

The WASA/Studio A Engineering Group provides comprehensive mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire/life safety engineering, lighting design and commissioning services. The work of the Engineering Group is highly influenced by the LEED™ process and focuses on systems integration, energy efficiency and sustainability, all of which are bolstered by the application of BIM technology. Due to the inter-disciplinary nature of the firm, this Group is equally adept at new construction, architectural interior and complex restoration projects. The goal of the Group is to design optimal engineering solutions, achieved through rigorous research and analysis, tailored to the specific requirements of each project.

The WASA/Studio A Preservation Group is one of the nation's leaders in historic preservation, with advanced expertise in building conservation technologies and architectural restoration. The group has been involved in some of the most important preservation projects of the last two decades, including Frank Lloyd Wright's Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum and Fallingwater, the historic Breakers and Chateau-sur-Mer mansions in Newport, Rhode Island and Louis Sullivan's Bayard-Condict building in New York. Additional projects include theatres, academic structures, courthouses, museums and other iconic structures.

The WASA/Studio A Interiors Group is guided by the notion that the interior environment is profoundly critical. The interiors team, comprised of a highly skilled group of interior designers, specifically tailors each project to the client's needs and the task at hand by means of spatial relationships, materials, color and lighting.

Commitment to Sustainability. WASA/Studio A routinely incorporates a focus on sustainability in its design process. Our LEED accredited architects and engineers work to ensure that all material used both during and post-construction are carefully considered and resourced. Our goal is that every building designed or engineered by WASA/Studio meets the highest standards of energy conservation practices and green building.
